The Daily Grind - Canton Firehouse

1030 S. Linwood Ave.
Canton
Baltimore, MD 21224
(410)522-5046
website

Atmosphere:
Brand spankin' new! It doesn't have the funky lived in feel of the Daily Grind in Fells Point but it's a much needed addition to Canton Square. Clean and as of yet undiscovered by the masses of free wifi surfers you can easily spend the whole day either on the couch or at one of the tables.

The Coffee:
Serving their very own daily grind coffee - lots of options

Best time to go:
Anytime

Food: Yes
Limited options - pre-made salads and a few gourmet sandwiches. Food is good considering the small selection. The turkey, brie & apple is quite yummy!

Wifi: Yes
strong signal, lots of outlets

What we stayed for:
lunch and an afternoon latté

The Evergreen

The Evergreen
501 W Cold Spring Lane
Baltimore, MD 21210
(410) 235-8118

Atmosphere:
Definitely one of our favorite coffee shop hang out places. They seem very happy to let you sit all day. There are lots of tables and a couple couches. It's usually easy to get a spot near an outlet and people are friendly and willing to share. There is always a great mix of 80's and Indy music playing overhead. There is a distinct lack of AC but there are enough ceiling fans that you feel a nice breeze. Seems like it would be cozy in the winter as well.

If you are looking for a quiet atmosphere this is probably not your best bet. It is near the Loyola campus and definitely gets bustling in the afternoon. But if you are looking for a place to gather and don't mind people talking and the humm of the soda machine this is a great place to go.

The Coffee:
The Evergreen's coffee (and common ground) have the best coffee around. Fresh and Steamy - refills for $.50

Best time to go:
Get there before the lunch rush and stake out your outlet - it gets hotter as the day goes on and it fills up.

Food: Yes
fantastic food - breakfast, paninis, sandwiches, wraps and salads with real lettuce

Wifi: Yes
consistent, strong signal

What we stayed for:
2 iced coffee's
lunch and a snack later

The beginning of Coffee Shop Days!

Welcome!

The woes of freelance design in Baltimore. You never know when your next check is actually going to arrive in the mailbox. You spend so much time in your office (the second bedroom of your rowhouse) that you start asking your cat/dog/goldfish what they think of your latest logo design. You realize that is in a LOT easier to get distracted in your own home than it ever was at your last office job. You start wondering if you will ever leave your house (office) again!

And so you realize that in order to preserve your sanity and social life you are going to have to make some changes. And the result...Coffee Shop Days! You wander out in to the world with your snazzy laptop bag and you park yourself at the nearest coffee shop with free wifi and you stay alllll day. If you get to sit next to an outlet that is :)

And so we present coffeeshopdays.com - reviews of the best places to go and actually get some work done in Baltimore and how many cups of coffee we stayed for.
